The community is invited to attend the opening reception of the “Grafted Roots” Webber Gallery exhibition Friday, May 31 at 6 p.m.
On view 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday, May 20-Thursday, July 18, this exhibition is the first solo curated show of Ocala resident David Campo III. David has a Bachelor of Arts in anthropology from the University of Florida and a Master of Arts in art history from the University of Georgia, as well as a Master of Arts in museum studies from the University of Florida. He has been published in various exhibition catalogs and has co-curated other exhibitions.
The theme “Grafted Roots” refers to the agricultural technique of grafting sweet orange branches onto sour orange roots to increase resiliency to the elements. Similarly, all the artists featured in this show are transplanted from their original homes, be it from a different country, state or town. While the artists share a geographic connection, they convey a variety of unique talents and expressions.
