Access for Students With Disabilities

The office of Disability Services is committed to ensuring that the College of Central Florida provides equal educational opportunities for students with disabilities. Access Services exists to help students engage in courses, programs, services and activities of CF and to assist students in self-advocacy. Access Services works to educate the CF community about disabilities and to ensure compliance with the American Disabilities Act of 1990 and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973. A variety of services are available to aid students with disabilities and/or physical needs to stay in school and enjoy a full college experience.

Athletics

In Athletics, 79 percent of second-year athletes graduated, higher than the 71 percent historical average. For the first time in program history, student-athletes attained a 3.0 or higher overall GPA for the academic year. View the Equity in CF Athletics report. Visit the CF Patriots Website

Accreditation

The College of Central Florida is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges to award associate and baccalaureate degrees. Contact the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges at 1866 Southern Lane, Decatur, Georgia 30033-4097 or call 404-679-4500 for questions about the accreditation of College of Central Florida. The commission should be contacted only if there is evidence that appears to support that the College of Central Florida may be in non-compliance with a requirement or standards. College of Central Florida is also approved by the Florida Department of Education to award associate degrees, baccalaureate degrees, college credit certificates and occupational certificates.

Campus Safety & Security and Clery Act

The CF Public Safety Department maintains a safe and secure campus where diverse social, cultural and academic values are allowed to develop and prosper. Public Safety maintains Annual Security Reports, Crime Statistics, and other required information. Click here for more Campus Safety and Security information.
CF also encourages the entire community to immediately report crimes and other emergency situations to the Public Safety office to help maintain the safest possible environment for students, faculty, staff, and visitors.

Careers

The College of Central Florida Career Development Center helps students and graduates with career assessment, career counseling, employability skills training and labor market information. Services include extensive career resource library of books and multimedia materials on career planning and occupations and access to employer information. Economic Security Report

The Economic Security Report provides students, parents, and others with employment, earnings, and other outcome information on graduates of Florida’s public institutions of higher education, e.g., State University System , Florida College System, and District Technical Centers. Also learn about the overall employment, earnings, and continuing education outcomes for Florida College System graduates and how smart college choices contribute additional information by major.

FERPA

When you submit an application for admissions, or send application materials, such as test scores, transcripts or letters of recommendation, these items become a part of your student record at the College of Central Florida. Your student record is covered under FERPA, which means that your information is private and can only be shared with people who have authorization. Instructions for how to authorize someone to access your records can be found here.

The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) (20 U.S.C. § 1232g; 34 CFR Part 99) is a Federal law that protects the privacy of student education records. The law applies to all schools that receive funds under an applicable program of the U.S. Department of Education. FERPA gives parents certain rights with respect to their children’s education records. These rights transfer to the student when he or she reaches the age of 18 or attends a school beyond the high school level. Students to whom the rights have transferred are “eligible students.” View more information about FERPA.

Financial Aid

The CF Financial Aid Office supports students and their families with planning for and meeting college expenses. This financial assistance helps cover higher education expenses and related costs. There are several types of financial aid, including grants and scholarships, work study and loans. Identity Theft

CF encourages faculty, staff and students to deter, detect and defend themselves against identity theft. Deter by minimizing your risk. Detect by monitoring accounts and bank statements monthly and checking your credit report on a regular basis. And defend by taking steps to respond and recover from identity theft as soon as you suspect it. Click for resources to prevent your identity theft.

Institutional Obligations for Public Disclosure

The Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges’ policy for Institutional Obligations for Public Disclosure states: The institution publishes statements of its goals for student achievement and the success of students in achieving those goals. Information on student success may include reliable information in retention, graduation, course completion, licensure examinations, and job placement rates and other measures of student success appropriate to institutional mission. Institutional Review Board

Institutions that apply for federal funding are required to have an Institutional Review Board with clearly defined procedures to ensure that grant-funded research activities protect human subjects. Any individual (inside or outside the college) who desires to conduct any systematic investigation that involves obtaining any information about CF individuals (administrators, faculty, staff or students) to contribute to generalizable knowledge must obtain formal CF IRB approval. Photographs/Publications

The College of Central Florida photographs and videotapes students, faculty and staff, and posts photographs online, in viewbooks and other publications. If a student does not wish to have photographs and/or videotapes released, they must contact the Director of Marketing, Public and Community Relations, 3001 S.W. College Road, Ocala FL 34474-4415, within the first 30 days of the semester enrolled.

The college will then take every reasonable effort to ensure such photographs and videotapes will not be made public. The College of Central Florida may use these photographs and videotapes for an indefinite period of time unless the director is notified at the above address. However, the college shall not be required to recall previously published images. Surveillance equipment may be used in certain areas of the college at events for security and safety purposes.

Student notice restricting photographs or videotapes does not apply to the use of surveillance equipment for safely, security and disciplinary procedures. In addition, local media may come to campus with or without the college’s permission to photograph or video students and college personnel. Student notice restricting photographs or videotapes does not apply to publication of photographs or videotapes taken by local media or the college newspaper.

Policies and Administrative Procedures

College of Central Florida Policies provide the operational basis for the college and are adopted pursuant to Chapter 120, Florida Statutes, and under the authority of Chapter 240, Florida Statutes, and the Florida Board of Education Rules, Chapters 6A-14 and 6H-1 (Florida Administrative Code), and the CF District Board of Trustees. College Administrative Procedures are developed in response to a need for detailed instructions related to a CF District Board of Trustees policy or state rule or statute. Development of procedures is the responsibility of the president, who delegates to a vice president or associate vice president.

CF collects no personal information about you when you visit our website unless you affirmatively choose to make such information available to us. Only aggregate information is collected, and individual visitors’ personal information is not identified. You may also wish to review the information how we collect and use Social Security Numbers.

Public Records Requests

As a political subdivision of the state of Florida, the college is required by law to comply in a timely manner to all requests for public records. Public records may be requested in person, by phone, or by email. Requestors are not required to provide their identity or purpose for seeking the records. Retention and Graduation Rates

The overall graduation rate is also known as the “Student Right to Know” or IPEDS graduation rate. It tracks the progress of students who began their studies as full-time, first-time degree- or certificate-seeking students to see if they complete a degree or other award such as a certificate within 150% of “normal time” for completing the program in which they are enrolled. Safety of students, employees and visitors is a priority at the College of Central Florida. CF is embracing legislation that promotes increased awareness, training and reporting of violence in our community. College of Central Florida strives to promote the health and wellness of its students and employees as well as a safe, comfortable environment for all who work, study, conduct business, or visit the college. Veterans and Military Service Members

We help make veteran’s transition to civilian life as seamless as possible. This office is available to assist in receiving education benefits from the Department of Veterans Affairs. We provide assistance to military service men and women, veterans, and eligible dependents enrolled at the College of Central Florida.
