About the Speaker
Dr. Bonnie J. Dorr is Associate Director and Senior Research Scientist at The Florida Institute for Human and Machine Cognition (IHMC) and Professor of Computer Science at both University of West Florida and University of Florida.
For 38 years, she has been conducting research in artificial intelligence, most notably human-centered computing, deep language understanding, and most recently, Cyber NLP (Natural Language Processing).
Dr. Dorr’s vision for “AI and the Future” is computerized understanding of “what’s inside people’s heads” from social media, i.e., attitudes and intentions regarding critical issues such as mask wearing attitudes that may effect changes in public health guidance.
Dr. Dorr is a Sloan Fellow, an NSF Presidential Faculty Fellow, former President of the Association for Computational Linguistics (2008), Fellow of the Association for Advancement of Artificial Intelligence (2013), Fellow of the Association for Computational Linguistics (2016), and Fellow of the Association for Computing Machinery (2021).
