CF to Present Spring Lecture Series, Feb. 13 and 27

The College of Central Florida’s Visual and Performing Arts Department will present two spring lectures this month. “Music and the Brain” will be presented by local neurologist José Gaudier, M.D., P.A. on Wednesday, Feb. 13, in the Charles R. Dassance Fine Arts Center. “Anyone Can Improvise” on Wednesday, Feb. 27, will feature Greg Snider, CF clarinet and saxophone instructor and Patriot Blues Jazz Band director, and will take place in the Webber Center, 3001 S.W. College Road, Ocala. Both lectures start at 12:30 p.m.
Gaudier is a diplomate of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. He is also a member of the American Academy of Neurology, American Medical Association, Florida Medical Association and Marion County Medical Association. He has been instrumental in bringing to Ocala a number of medical educational programs for physicians and has participated in a large number of research projects helping bring cutting edge technology to Ocala. For his work in the Medical Society of Marion County, he was named vice president of the organization in 2006-2007 and president in 2007-2008. In his passion to educate others, Gaudier has lectured patients and colleagues on various neurological topics. In addition, he has co-authored of several articles.
Snider recently was awarded a Master of Music Education with a focus on Jazz Studies at the University of Florida. Prior to that he completed a Master of Music in Saxophone Performance at UF. In conjunction with his teaching schedule, Snider performs multiple styles of music on the saxophone ranging from classical works to pop charts and jazz and can be seen playing regularly in the Gainesville and Ocala communities.
