Tuition Waiver/Scholarship Agreement
Student activity tuition waivers/scholarships at CF are two-way agreements. In order to obtain money, the student must meet and maintain certain qualifications:
- Students must maintain full time ( 12 hours ) student status at CF.
- Student must maintain a satisfactory 2.0 grade point average. Grade point averages may be a determining factor in any competitive awarding of tuition money.
- Students will be evaluated at the end of each semester. Tuition will be continued, discontinued, or changed at that time - - based on student skills, involvement, contribution, and dedication to the theatre program. The director of theatre will make judgment of these criteria. Consideration will also be given to student's overall progress at CF.
- Students must be actively involved in the theatre program at CF to be eligible for funding. They are being paid to "staff" the theatre department. Such responsibilities include:
- Auditioning for each show during the year, even if the student if primarily involved in technical theatre.
- Active participation in each show, either on stage or in another capacity to be assigned by the director.
- Registration in theatre courses as they are offered each term. It is not necessary to "major" in theatre. Each waiver student MUST be enrolled in a minimum of 3 hours of theatre coursework, one of which MUST be THE 2927 Advanced Play Production.
- Participation in trips, workdays, set strikes and other normal theatre events is MANDATORY.
- Communication with the instructor on a frequent and regular basis. All student receiving financial aid from the theatre department should check in with the director at least once or twice a week especially if not enrolled in regular courses ( i.e., contract courses only ). Students are expected to check with the director prior to registration each term as well, so student progress and proper course selection can be monitored.
- Set work on all shows is expected of all funded students. Hours should be recorded on the callboard. Students need to make themselves available for necessary cleanup and maintenance tasks around the theatre.
- Students who do not conform to the terms of this agreement may have their registration blocked or grades withheld until the tuition money is repaid to the college. Such arrangements should be made with the theatre director.
- CF students are encouraged to gain theatre experience and skills wherever and whenever they can, HOWEVER, scholarship students should NOT audition for shows which will prevent fulfilling responsibilities to CF Theatre and to this agreement. ALL auditions for non-college shows during the school terms should be discussed and approved IN ADVANCE by the theatre director.
- CF Theatre students often staff non-theatrical events, offering technical assistance in lighting, sound, set work, etc. These activities must be approved by the theatre director, and cannot be detrimental to the student responsibility to the theatre. The primary responsibility of theatre scholarship students must be to the CF Theatre program.
- Ultimately, the decision as to who receives funding and the amount of that funding rests with the theatre director, and is determined by the attitude, participation, and contribution of that student to the theatre program.
- EVERY CONSIDERATION WILL BE GIVEN TO GETTING FUNDED STUDENT ON STAGE, BUT THERE ARE NO GUARANTEES OF ROLES AN ANY PLAY. AUDITIONS ARE OPEN, AND STUDENTS WHO WISH TO BE INVOLVED IN THEATRE MUST LEARN TO COPE MATURELY WITH THE JOY AND DISAPPOINTMENT WHICH ARE AN INTEGRAL PART OF THIS FIELD.
All students who are eligible for tuition reimbursement should pick up a copy of this form in building 4 on the Ocala CF campus. The CF Theatre department must have a signed copy of these terms on file for all tuition reimbursement students.
