On Thursday, March 5 from 9 to noon, Dr. Leslie Hammond presented a group of 18 VAS members with a detailed and informative seminar covering portfolio development and presentation. Words such as “relevant, informative, practical and outstanding” were used to describe the content.
Hammond explained artist statements, delved into resume preparation and her power point slides were organized and to the point. Web sites and technical information for the art professional got the group thinking about their own marketing and presentation of their art work to the world.
Information regarding resources and grants were very much appreciated by this group of professional and amateur artists alike.
The half day time period was preferred to a whole day by the majority of participants.
Topics for future lectures/workshops included digital technology, digital art, brochure development, protecting and storing art on the internet and what art galleries want.
The VAS was very fortunate to have Dr. Hammond agree to lecture on the topic of portfolio preparation and related topics. She is very experienced in the marketing component of the art world. She and her company, Artistic Eye would be glad to assist with web site development, brochures, portfolio enhancement and artist statements.
