The Sustainability Task Force was formed in 2005 to explore ways of reducing CF’s environmental footprint. The group of faculty, students, staff and administrators work to promote sustainability on campus and beyond. In 2007-2008, the Task Force is focusing on campus recycling, maintaining the native plant garden near the Bryant Student Union, and increasing awareness through a Web presence.

5% Energy Challenge Update:
After three-quarters of the 2009-2010 year, there is good news to report related to our college-wide goal of reducing energy consumption by 5%. As of March 31, CF had used 6% fewer kilowatt hours per square foot than we used during the first three quarters of the previous year. Let’s maintain our focus and continue to look for ways to become more efficient as we finish out this last quarter of the year. Hopefully, on June 30, we will have reached our goal for the year while also developing more sustainable energy consumption habits for the future.
College of Central Florida has been designated a Tree Campus USA. Tree Campus USA colleges and universities strive to engage their student body as well as their broader community to establish and sustain healthy community forests for the benefit of current and future residents.
Going Green...
We are please to announce that beginning Monday, March 22,
the Patriot Café will Go Green...
...meaning we will serve our in-dining room customers on dinnerware. This will help us reduce the amount of wasted styrofoam paper that is currently generated from this area.
This is just the beginning of doing our part for Sustainability!
If you will be taking your food out of the dining room we will provide appropriate containers.
